Family Connections

Newsletters

Good communication between parents and teachers is essential for a successful school experience, so we try very hard to be in constant communication with our families.  Parent bulletin boards, email, and newsletters, and face-to-face conversations are some of the best ways that we can keep the lines of communication open.  Every month, we have a Newsletter of activities that will be happening at Trinity Learning Center.  Here you can access these newsletters each month to see what we are doing!

Volunteers

Per child care licensing requirements, any volunteer that would like to come into the classroom to work directly with children on a regular basis must complete a notarized release of information, fingerprinting with a full background check, and an employment medical evaluation at the individual's expense. However, parents are always welcome to volunteer outside of the classroom either at home or in a space at the school that is not used for teaching. We can use you in several ways like preparing materials for the classroom or cleaning toys and art materials, etc.  Parents are allowed to visit the school on special event days such as parties.

Conferences

Trinity Learning Center uses teacher summary reports and Parent Teacher Conferences to let you know what we observe while your child is in our care.  This is for parents to find out how your child interacts with others and what skills they are showing us at school.  We realize that some children are shy and may not always show us what they are fully capable of doing.  However, we hope this information will help you to know how they are doing and how to help them progress.  Conferences will be done in the winter by request of teacher or parent, and again in the spring for everyone.

Family Activities

We try to offer several activies throughout the year that families can participate in with their child.  Here are a few examples of things we usually do:

*Orientation Day * Chocolate Festival
*Family Field Trip to the Pumpkin Patch                                *Trike-A-Thon charity fundraiser
*Spaghetti Dinner Fundraiser *Family Carnival Open House
*Scholastic Book Fair *Family Field trip to Catoctin Zoo
*Local Restaurant Family Days *Mother's Day Brunch
*Dads, Donuts, and Dr. Seuss *Graduation
*All-School Picnic *Summer Pool Parties and Playdates

Calendar

We basically follow the Washington County Public Schools calendar, however there are a few exceptions including our opening and closing dates and some professional days added throughout the year.  We open after Labor Day and finish the Friday before Memorial Day.  The few dates scheduled on the calendar for Trinity Learning Center as Professional Days are for our staff to work on planning, student assessments, portfolios, or professional development.  Weather cancellations will also follow Washington County Public School closings.
